Meet the LPEA Board Candidates & Earth Day Discussion of YES MAGAZINE titled DIRT
PAGOSA EARTH COMMUNITY IS SCHEDULING 3 EVENTS FOR EARTH WEEK & THE LPEA ELECTION IN APRIL
There will be a gathering at the Ruby Sisson Library Large Meeting Room on Wednesday, April 10, beginning at 12 NOON until 3PM. A complementary salad will be served at Noon. If you would like to bring something to add to a lettuce salad, a fruit salad or a dessert to share, please do, but it IS NOT A REQUIREMENT FOR ATTENDING. Just come!
The Earth Community has invited 3 people running & on the LPEA Board to present 15 minutes of information & then have 15 minutes for questions. The schedule is 12:30 PM: Michael Whiting, candidate, 1PM: Bob Lynch, LPEA Board President & 1:30 PM: Holly Metzler, candidate.
This should give us a great opportunity to find out about LPEA issues & make a wise decision for the LPEA Election. You should have or be receiving your ballot in the mail this week. It needs to be mailed back by April 20, for the May 2, LPEA Annual Meeting, which includes a fancy lunch & lots of free stuff.
Energy is one of the biggest issues of our day AND it is something you can take action on and have an IMPACT ON. I have heard how active the people in La Plata county are. Archuleta County can do so much more. I have heard too many people here say that “things don’t matter, there is nothing I can do.” Here is something that does matter & all you have to do is show up, eat a healthy salad, get educated and take wise action with your vote. I really hope to see you.
There will be 2 gatherings on Tuesday, April 16, in honor of Earth Day which is Monday, April 22, 2019. Pagosa will celebrate Earth Week from Monday, April 22, to Saturday, April 28, with a finale on Saturday of many events at PLPOA. The Pagosa Earth Community may be beginning the Earth week activities with 2 discussions of the YES MAGAZINE SPRING ISSUE CALLED DIRT. It is absolutely amazing. The first discussion will be from 1:30 – 3PM. Another discussion will be from 6-7 PM. Both will be at the Ruby Sission Library Large Meeting Room. We are hoping to have extra copies of this amazing issue for sale & some other free copies of Yes Magazine, while they last.
The Earth Community is just starting a very meaningful project in Pagosa by contacting a specific group of people who have lost a loved one & would like to take part in a special memorial for their loved one in one of our parks. The cost at a minimum will be about $1000 and could go up to $20,000. The Earth Community will not actually be handling money, but will be coordinating the plans, gathering the participants, contacting the company and supervising the construction. If you are interested call Joan 303-995-2888 or talk with me at one of these gatherings. You will be hearing more about this great addition to our community.
